As a KU employee, I have been prohibited by the Kansas Board of Regents from listing my pronouns (he/him/his) in my email signature. I believe that this policy violates my freedom of speech and is an inappropriate imposition of gender ideology. This is why the ability to list pronouns in email signatures is important.
I am a Handling Editor for Combinatorial Theory. See the 2020 press release to learn more about the journal.
I am a co-organizer of the Great Plains Combinatorics Conference.
I am a co-organizer of the Graduate Research Workshop in Combinatorics.
My main focus of research is algebraic combinatorics. I also am interested in areas of mathematics including algebraic geometry, discrete geometry, commutative algebra, and algebraic topology. I especially like topics in which these fields intersect: simplicial and cell complexes, configuration varieties, Coxeter groups, hyperplane arrangements, Stanley-Reisner theory, matroids, polytopes, Gröbner bases, and combinatorial Hopf algebras and monoids. I am always happy when combinatorial techniques can be used to solve problems from other areas of pure or applied mathematics.
See the Math Department website for information about general information about KU Math graduate programs and information for current graduate students.
Michelle Morrison (Graduate Program Coordinator, michmor (at) ku.edu) and I are always happy to talk to students one-on-one and answer questions, provide advice, and discuss progress.
